Welcome

Dear Patient,

We are happy to announce that we are conducting a study to help patients suffering from fibromyalgia, migraines, TMJD, and lower back pain.  We are testing our new (patent applied for) device and multimodal treatment method to reduce or end chronic pain at the Institute for Medical Psychology at Philipps-University Marburg. The new treatment program is ‘Systolic Engagement Training’ or SET.  It is not a pharmaceutical, but rather a novel approach designed to avoid the downsides of medication.

Chronic pain is a common and debilitating ailment that affects over 80 million Americans each year at an estimated cost of estimated $61.2 billion per year in health expenditures and lost productivity (Stewart et al. 2003).

We are all SET!

The program components make uo the name. The term ‘Systolic‘ (pressure) is the high pressure point of your heart cycle.  We then encourage pain ‘Extinction’ in your brain and ‘Train’ it to adjust your pain perception.  You ease your pain through learning and a re-balancing your central nervous system. We induce pain stimuli at the proper point in the cardiac cycle and thereby trigger your natural system to inhibit pain and reduce your pain perception.

As we commonly know from experiencing love and other strong emotions, our heart and brain are intertwined.  Pain memory, pain behaviors, conditioned responses, and misunderstandings between the brain and body can provoke and perpetuate unwanted pain.  Proper training resets a healthy mechanism and strongly diminishes your chronic pain. The breakthrough SET program effectuate natural learning in your body and mind by aligning a defined pain stimulation with the proper perception. Through the training, we extinguish your pain again and again, until you can keep it up. You learn to automatically inhibit your pain.
